f-irc software package provides user-friendly IRC client for the console/terminal, you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install f-irc
f-irc is installed in your system.
Make ensure the f-irc package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep f-irc *
You will get with f-irc package name, version, architecture and description in a table
